Maureen Shinners Branding

For this freelance project, I worked on a series of branding elements—including a logo, website, and Instagram account—for a jewelry representative working out of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.

The company

Maureen Shinners is a Chicago-based jewelry representative that has been in business for 30 years. Maureen’s company represents 18 artists—each with independent branding—but did not have recognizable branding of her own.

The context

Before I designed her branding, I worked in Maureen’s office and on the trade show floor. At points when booth traffic was lower, I took it upon myself to start and develop Maureen’s instagram. As Maureen had neither a logo nor a website, I also developed branding and web elements as a freelance designer.

The logo

After a long period of sketching, I came up with a blend of Maureen’s initials. The walls of Maureen’s showroom are a light sea-foam green, so I chose to reflect the same color in her logo and print materials.

The website

In the scrollable prototype, you’ll find the final layout for the Maureen Shinners website.

As the key functions of Maureen’s website are to feature the artists she represents and to book appointments, the two most prominent calls-to-action on the page are to “Explore Our Artists” and “Contact Us.” The grid of artists is featured on the homepage, through the top navigation, and through the button in the hero.
